The three things about the UI that are bothering me most right now are:
1) Window position/size memory. Most notably, the Trade window. The way I lay out my hangar and cargo windows masks large portions of the trade window, so I tend to move it up when I'm trading between my characters, which I do a lot of. But then, the next time I trade, it starts out right in the center of the screen again, which is a pain in the ass. Also notable with the item info window, which I regularly resize to view more of, only to have it show up again later in the same annoyingly tiny rectangle in the top left of the screen.
2) Window re-usage. Chaining from number 1: I put my market window somewhere, set the window size and the dimensions of the frames within it how I like it. Later, I open the market with an info window already open in the top left corner and the market window opens in the same space, ruining all my resizing efforts because it's no longer in the middle of the screen and stretched wide the way I like it. This happens with pretty much every useful window in the game. (Note: I do not have "use existing window unless shift is pressed" on. The windows stack, like tabs in modern browsers, not replace each other.)
3) Focus stealing. If I'm typing something in a chat window and I dock, the station services window steals focus and I have to hit spacebar to continue typing. Worse (and far more annoying), if I have a fleet window up at the time, that steals focus and pressing spacebar does *not* put focus back on the chat window. I either have to ctrl+tab or click back in the chat window to continue typing. |

This would be very helpful. Once I got bored and looked into this (and had it working), but it's actually not that easy. The owner info is not sent to the client (and we don't want it to be), so the only way to know what are your orders is to compare them with the "my orders" list... which would require a lot of extra trips to the server, which we are not fond of.
Shouldn't you be able to do this client side? (The client has the data for the market you're looking at, and the orders that you have outstanding, so it should be able to run compares on them both.) I would expect each order to have a unique ID# that could be referenced to eliminate potential ownership leaks. |

Alright, I have a SUPER TEENY TINY LITTLE MINISCULE INCONCEIVABLY Small suggestion :
If you right click on your ship / capacitor you can "Add Location" and open the "create a bookmark" window without needing to go through people and places.
This would save me a bit of trouble with always needing to switch to the people and places tab whenever i need to drop bookmarks. It's available on objects in space for the most part, so why not on your own ship representing your own location?
Thanks!
I believe that actually used to work a long time ago... |

Wow, okay, I can't provide an example because the system won't allow HTML. Joy.
Anyhow! This is easily reproducible. I've noticed that when mails are sent from EVE Gate and opened in game, certain special characters (such as the apostrophe, or ') are replaced by their HTML counterparts. While it's pretty easy to parse the message as it was intended, it is also quite annoying. Could something maybe be done about this? |

Even better, if they also identified the thread? |

I'm always want to facepalm when i see post like this.... So Zedolf (lol, almost like "Adolf"), in your opinion they shouldn't make helpful stuff (like lightning orders on our route - thnx for that) just because someone can use it for botting? Pffffff..... Or maybe they should put this on the market background to make bots life harder? Explorer (kiss for u :*) said that there should be "100x likes button". I think there should be also dislike button. (I don't like to be unpleasant to anyone, but sometimes its hard to refrain....)
Maybe I'm missing something, but how would highlighting a given player's market orders for that player alone increase botting activity? The only thing this change would do is make it easier for a player (who doesn't have the ability to compare data like a machine) to spot their own orders in a large group without having to make visual comparisons between the wallet and market. |

Most bots in eve work on recognizing colors in given xy point on the screen - Macro clikers. Making new separate color for own market orders will make it easier for macro bots to recognize them on the screen. They did that without colors, so they will do it after adding it. But still this doesnt change my opinion that this will be good move for us - nonbot marketers.
Which means no relative delta.
That is: if it's already being done with the current system, making it "easier" won't change anything, because it's still just macro code. Human brains don't work in macro code = P We like obvious visual signals. |

This has now ticked me off three times in a row and is thus worthy of asking about.
When you're looking at stuff on the market and pick out something to buy, the little window pops up with relevant information and which actually does the transacting.
When it first opens, the "Total:" line has a dash on it, which for some reason takes up the whole horizontal and forces the "View Market Details" magnifying glass down, auto-resizing the window, which has the effect of forcing the "Buy" button down. And then the total field loads an actual value which DOESN'T take up the whole horizontal, so everything shifts up. So that when I go to click where buy *was*, it isn't there anymore, so instead I click the market window in the background and have to close or minimize it (or tab through open windows) to get back to the actual transaction window.
Could the window default dimensions maybe be changed so this vertical resizing does not occur, or the field size be fixed so it doesn't force the VMD button out of the way and thus make the window taller in the first place? |

Another thing:
I seem to remember back in the old days an Aggro timer being in the top left of the screen (much like the session change timer is now) which would show you how long you had to wait to dock or jump after performing some sort of hostile action. I can't, for the life of me, find an option in the escape menu to get it back, and it's really annoying to not know this figure without keeping meticulous track of the time outside of the game.
So... either could someone point out to me where to turn on such a feature, or could something be devised that works like the current session change timer (IE a little circle, perhaps in red, counting down the time to interface with a station or gate)? |

I can go shoot myself and SS it, but I'm pretty sure there's no red and yellow aggro timer texty bits. |

I don't think he means the Aggression Flag, I think he means the aggression TIMER (yes, that other thing) that stops you from docking/jumping for 1 minute after shooting someone in the face. I don't ever remember there being a timer for that in all my years playing. The only way to reliably know was to hover over the aggression flag (yellow/red) and wait for it to hit 14 minutes since you're last shot fired. This could be a bit more noticeable, I agree - because unless you have a stop watch handy, it's pretty impossible to know.
Yes, that. Not the GCC timer that I know you get when you shoot someone in the face that you're not allowed to. Which, of course, is why I don't get any red or yellow text for shooting my alt. But I still can't dock up for a minute afterward, and I'd like to know how much of that minute is left without running a timer out-of-game. |

Mara Rinn wrote:Rather than a button for "Show market details" why not make the item name clickable/right clickable like the usual "auto link" functionality? Fewer buttons = cleaner interface :)
Yes, but obvious buttons tend to be rated higher on the "Ease of use" scale than right-click menus.
While it's pretty safe to assume that no EVE player is a computer-illiterate troglodyte, not everyone is accustomed to diving into click menus for their most basic needs. |
